Tips in Arranging Photos at HomeA tabletop or an open wall is like an empty canvass waiting for your photo collection to perk it up. However, before you start pounding hooks and nails random, plan best approach for highlighting your treasures. Here are some tips on how to arrange framed images. First, select frames that complement each other. Opposite styles could be quite distracting. Cluster similar photographs, framed prints and other artwork together. Put black-and-white portraits in one group, landscapes in another, and modern art pieces in a third. Bring purpose to the area you are enhancing by arranging photos around a certain theme. To create a group template on a wall, begin by placing the largest piece in the centre. Put in smaller ones as you work out to the sides. Permit no more than a hand's width between pieces in a group. Go on attaching and moving photos until the desired balance is achieved. Place components of varying heights one after the other to add interest to the sight lines. To ensure that each individual piece is at eye level, line up the horizontal centre of each group. Eye level usually falls between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches. If a home's occupants have greatly varying heights, look for the midpoint between the eye level of tallest and shortest persons. If you are arranging framed photographs in the living room, drop the centreline 1 to 2 feet as people there will mostly be seated. Finally, choose hanging hardware strong enough to support the weight of each item. Remember to get it a kind that is suitable for your wall. |
